What other secrets and surprises are waiting to be uncovered within the walls of Nanba Prison?

The Review:-

Nanbaka’s second season was a bit of a mixed bag for me. I was really excited to watch it, but at the same time, I ended up feeling a little disappointed.

In the first two episodes of this season, we’re reminded again and again that Nanbaka is a gag anime — just like in season one. But in that first season, there was a nice balance between the serious moments and the comedy, and I really enjoyed how smoothly it shifted between the two.

In season two, though, the comedy pretty much starts and ends in those first two episodes. From episode three onward, things get much more serious.

I’m not saying that’s a bad thing! It just makes it a bit harder to keep calling Nanbaka a gag anime. Still, the bits of comedy we do get in season two are as fun and refreshing as ever.

One of my favorite comedic highlights was the dynamic between Hajime and the warden. I can’t help but laugh at how she agonizes over him and tries so hard to come across as appealing, only to end up looking like she’s trying to assert dominance — and Hajime is always completely disturbed by it!

Another thing I really enjoyed was the fight scenes. They were super entertaining and did a great job of pulling me in emotionally. They also helped me connect more deeply with the characters.

However, there was a downside. Some of the powers the characters have during these fights feel pretty unrealistic, especially considering they’re supposed to be prisoners captured by the police. I guess you could argue that this ties into the gag aspect of the show, but because these powers show up in the most serious moments, it doesn’t quite fit.

Still, aside from that, the fight scenes were well done and added a different feel to the anime compared to the first season.

Visually, it’s just as colorful and sparkly as before, and the opening and ending themes are just as catchy and exciting. The music during fight scenes also does a great job of adding to the intensity and emotion.

Overall, if you’re watching Nanbaka mainly for the action, you’ll probably be really happy with this season. But if you’re here for the comedy, you might end up a little let down. We rated Nanbaka’s second season an 7 out of 10. I enjoyed watching it, even though it ended on a weird note for me, and I felt like the original idea of Nanbaka being a "gag anime" got a little lost along the way.
