Synopsis :-
Ever since the passing of his father, the responsibility of supporting his family has rested on Tanjirou Kamado's shoulders.
Despite living in poverty on a remote mountain, the Kamado family enjoys a peaceful and happy life. However, there have long been rumors of man-eating demons lurking in the woods, and because of this, the local townsfolk avoid going out after dark.
One day, Tanjirou heads to the village to sell charcoal and earn some money for his family. On his way back, night falls, forcing him to take shelter in the home of a strange man who warns him about the existence of these demons.
When Tanjirou finally returns home the next day, he’s greeted by a terrifying sight—his entire family has been slaughtered. To make matters worse, the only survivor is his sister, Nezuko, who has been transformed into a bloodthirsty demon. Filled with sorrow and anger, Tanjirou vows to avenge his family while protecting the only sibling he has left—Nezuko, who, against all odds, still shows signs of human emotions and thought.
Legends tell of a secret group of demon slayers who roam the night, hunting these terrifying creatures. Determined, Tanjirou embarks on a journey to find them, discovering the mysterious Demon Slayer Corps. He pledges to do whatever it takes to destroy the demons and safeguard what’s left of Nezuko's humanity.
The Review:-
I’d consider Demon Slayer to be a relatively new anime, having premiered in 2019, but it’s easily one of the most fulfilling series I’ve watched! I’m super excited to dive into the movies and the second season.
The storyline is really well done. You can see right away that the main character, Tanjirou, faces so many challenges, and none of them are easy to overcome! What I love most is how even the villains in the show have such unique and compelling backstories. It’s great to see that the writers took the time to develop stories for not just the main characters but even those who don’t stay in the spotlight for long.
For example, while the demons are definitely the ‘bad guys,’ the show does a wonderful job of reminding us that they were all human once, each with deep sorrows and personal struggles. It’s heartbreaking to see how those sorrows were twisted and used against them.
I also appreciate how much emphasis is placed on family and building meaningful relationships. The bond between Tanjirou and his sister Nezuko, both before and after everything that happened, is so touching. Plus, they continue to form strong connections with others along their journey, which I think will have a huge impact in the upcoming seasons!
Visually, the art style is simply stunning! It’s vibrant, colorful, and truly out of this world. The quality is top-notch, and the fight scenes are breathtaking. Overall, it’s just beautiful animation from start to finish.
The music is decent, though I will say it’s not as memorable as some other anime soundtracks. However, it does match the mood of the show and pairs well with the animation.
This anime might be a bit intense for anyone who isn’t into some gore, but the characters are so lovable and easy to connect with. My personal favorite is Inosuke—watch and you’ll see why!
Even though Demon Slayer is rated 8 out of 10, I’d give it a solid 9 out of 10!
