Synopsis :-
Alien parasites suddenly begin invading Earth, burrowing into the brains of unsuspecting humans to take full control of their hosts. Once they’ve taken over, these creatures can transform their bodies into horrifying shapes, perfect for hunting their prey.
Among their unsuspecting targets is 16-year-old Shinichi Izumi. However, the parasite that tries to take over his brain fails, managing to infect only his right hand instead.
Unable to move to Shinichi’s brain, the parasite—later named Migi—must rely on its host to survive.
Now, Shinichi and Migi are forced to coexist, forming an uneasy partnership to defend themselves from other bloodthirsty parasites who see them as a threat.
This thrilling story of survival is full of action, suspense, and unexpected bonds!
The Review:-
This is an anime I’d recommend watching, though there are a few areas that could have been improved. Let’s start with what I enjoyed most!
From the beginning, we’re introduced to Shinichi and the parasite who later adopts the name Migi, essentially becoming Shinichi’s right hand. I loved this duo early on because it perfectly showcased their stark differences. Shinichi embodies human qualities like empathy and hesitation, while Migi is a cold, calculating survivalist. This contrast is especially evident in their first encounter with another parasite whose host is a dog.
Even with his life in danger, Shinichi hesitates to attack the dog, showing compassion, while Migi, focused solely on survival, acts without remorse. As the story progresses, there’s a fascinating shift in their roles, though unfortunately, this concept feels underdeveloped, leaving viewers somewhat confused by the end about the ultimate point of their transformation.
Another issue lies in the story’s pacing and character usage. Some characters appear without much purpose, creating plot holes and moments that feel unnecessary. That said, Tamiya Ryouka stands out as a brilliantly crafted character. Her exploration of whether humans and parasites can coexist was one of the most compelling parts of the story. I only wish her role had been expanded further!
On a more positive note, the character designs and visuals were solid, and the soundtrack was excellent. The opening and ending themes were so good I never skipped them!
At Anime Frenzzzy, we’ve rated this anime an 8 out of 10. While it has its flaws, such as missed opportunities to deepen the story and character roles, it’s still one of my personal favorites. If you haven’t watched it yet, I highly recommend giving it a shot!
